2019 has been a landmark year for our overall operation.

Parent company & hip hop label New Dawn Records originally operated from 1996 – 2004 before lending all its resources to developing their in house promotions team UrbanElite PR to becoming one of the leading independent hip hop & rap publicists worldwide.

Now with this year’s label relaunch, UEP have reverted back to its original role.

With a vinyl back catalogue and having signed a digital distribution company with US company Ingrooves, New Dawn Records will look to release in both formats moving forward, and expect to announce some new roster additions in the weeks and months ahead.

To mark the relaunch, a series of specially commissioned EP’s have been released. Beginning with hip hop crew Belles in Monica’s “Y’All in Meltdown” on April 26th, it was followed by Underground Cartel’s “Sapientia” on May 17th, an international collaborative project featuring rappers from the USA, UK, France, Africa, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Germany & The Netherlands.

Belles in Monica’s second EP “Natsukashii” drops June 7th, and all are available to stream and download from Spotify, Apple, Deezer, Beatport, Soundcloud & Amazon.

Out today through recently relaunched label New Dawn Records, the new single “Smoke Filled Rooms” b/w “Skitzophonetic” by hip hop crew Belles in Monica.

Already on international rotation, “Smoke Filled  Rooms” mixes electronica, turntablism and South Asian flavas to journey into the dark underbelly of the inner city with rhymes depicting a vision of drug squalor hell, while the booming kicks and soaring strings of “Skitzophonetic” provides the dramatic backdrop for a verbal tirade against generic conformity.  Bonus cut “That All U Got?” invokes the spirit of Ali & Foreman leaving industry machinations slumped in the corner, towel thrown.  The art of storytelling has returned on a release spanning all eras.

Released today by New Dawn Records, Underground Cartel’s “Sapientia EP” is the definition of international hip hop.

Produced by Kruze as a showcase for independent male and female artists from the USA, UK, Europe and Africa, the concept is represented in its truest form as all perform in their native tongues. 

Stateside there’s coast to coast representation courtesy of Swiss Precise (KBH crew Long Beach), Sacramento’s Crazy Ballhead, Midwest rapper Brandon J Atlas, Boston’s Yukonn MC, Black Market from Virginia, Tone Rome of Baltimore’s Raw Dialect crew and Brooklyn’s female MC Lockness. 

London’s Creamo and UK Rapstation host Mr CRF are joined by Zimbabwean Dumi Right, with a heavy European contingent in the form of Madrid’s El Meswy, Beni Blanco from French crew “Originaire du Sud”, German rapper Grizu, Croatia’s Magellano and Dutchman Bleek Wonder.  The Italian scene has double representation in the shape of female lyricist Marya and the late, great Primo Brown from legendary crew Cor Veleno.   

All stand shoulder to shoulder trading bars which move seamlessly through each track and territory.  The result is a fresh, eclectic and extremely rare mix of rhymes, beats and turntablism, essential listening for the global hip hop connoisseur.

The past few years have proven to be an exceptionally busy and productive time for us, not least due to our various activities evolving beyond the original UK and European marketplaces.

This natural expansion developed over 5 years means we also now operate within the United States, Canada and Australia in addition to some further residual territories.

Simultaneously we streamlined some aspects of our promotional services which are now concentric around core products, typically EP’s and albums incorporating any affiliated singles or videos. In turn, this enabled us to provide further logistical support assistance for our clients which has regularly proven highly beneficial given we predominantly operate within the independent sector often working with new, emerging and developing artists and labels.

Handling publicity for an established artist is very different in nature to that of a new or emerging name, as are the promotional procedures.

Having worked with both categories for over a decade, and with a more re-alligned focus on the latter, our experience means we understand the multiple factors which media will consider in their decision making processes.

One of the most creative and gifted lyricists to emerge from London’s burgeoning rap scene, Da Flyy Hooligan released his new album “S.C.U.M.” on October 27th.

In a rare step for a British hip hop artist, he signed with a US label in the shape of 22 Entertainment for the release which also includes guest featured artists Westside Gunn and Hus Kingpin.

“S.C.U.M.” is available to buy on both CD and digital formats from multiple online stores worldwide including Amazon, Bandcamp, iTunes and Spotify

French online magazine “Sagi Hip Hop” has just published a new 4 star review reflecting the quality of the production by Agor, compared in style to The Alchemist, and the fierce rhyme skills of Harlesden’s finest.
